I cannot delete meshes while I am using stroke mesh mapping brush

so basically as it says
here to replicate it
I select an artmesh> go into edit mode> select the stroke mesh mapping tool> ctrl+a to select the mesh> then try deleting it BUT I cant.

you have to go back into add point tool then press delete then go back to stroke mesh mapping it is such a tiny thing but it has been present since the tool was in 4.0 I thought eventually it would be fix. dropping it here cause its 5.2 its been three years pls fix
